The first thing you need to do is get a hair cut, to get rid of your split ends. Nothing repair split ends so you have to cut them off, then ask your stylist about "thinning your hair" with thinning scissors, this will help with the thickness of your hair. After that, let your hair get dirty for a few days, without washes it. This will help the blonde color you want to color it take easier and evenly because of the natural oils in your hair. After coloring it blonde, it may not be completely even, don't accept it, a month later color it again, your second time coloring it should be as even as it's gonna get. It's a process but before you know it, you'll be happy with the progress.

without seeing your hair it is hard to tell how blond you can go since i need to see your natural colour and the grow out. even though it has been two years, reds are very stubborn and hard to get out.

having said that, i can address the state of your hair. you need to cut the dry ends before you can colour it. bleach will only create more damage.

my best advice for you is to highlight it. have them colour your hair to a soft medium brown to ensure it is all even and give you lots of blonde hightlights about 40% blondes in your hair. look at pics of j.lo from a few years back. start out that way and then as you highlight more, you can get blonder and see if you can go completely blonde.

if you do go completely blonde, it is easy to go back to your natural colour but you will have to wait 6 weeks to do so.

with such a drastic hair change, you have to go to good salon as it will need to have colour toner to balance it and it is not that easy.

my advise is get a great cut and then highlights as a start.
