How to get curly hair? DESPERATE!?

My hair is naturally very straight, and I have tried everything to make it curly or wavy, but nothing ever works. I have tried leaving curlers in overnight with wet hair, but then I let it down in the morning and within 10 minutes it was straight again. I have also tried curling irons and LOTS of hairspray, but again it fell out in minutes. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, hairspray makes absolutely no difference on my hair, and I have already tried those shampoos that make your hair curly, but they don't work on me. What can I do?

ok i have the same problem but i am also prone to frizzy hair, im affraid that the solution is quite long winded! heres what i do!

wash and condition my hair, put styling mousse on wet hair and then i use rags instead of curlers, basically cut a cotton sheet or piece of matieral into strips long enough to tie when you have your hair wound round it, seperate into segments and completely rag your hair, makes sure you do this in the afternoon, and leave the rags in overnight. make sure your hair is completely dry before taking the rags out, you will have beautiful ringlets that you can seperate with your fingers into long lasting curls, (do not use a brush or comb otherwise youll just have frizz!!) also another thing is not to use too much hairspray! it weighs the curls down making them drop, just a spritz of the strongest hold one you can find!!

then spray tons of hair spray on ur hair and curling iron

then start culing !!

Try buying a really good hair mouse from your local salon.....

then part dry your hair apply a lot of mouse then dry your hair really slowly while spiralling it around your finger...........holding your hairdryer there while its wound tight

Have you triend using mouse or gel? Put gel in your hair, then curl it wit a curling iron. Don't move te iron for a minute or so. Then let it unravel. If that doesn't work, be thankful you don't have frizzy hair this powerful!

When I was younger I had really curly hair, and I lost it, unfortunately. My hair became straight but I did have a little bit of waves at time. A lot of years later I decided to get a perm and my hair is now really wavy and curly at times. I like it but I do miss when my hair is straight. Try a perm if you really truly want curly hair.

Well if you really want curly hair and are willing to make it into a semi permanent thing, I suggest talking to your hairstylist about getting a perm. You can ask to have larger curls as opposed to the tight curly ones many think of when they hear perm.

You should love you hair as it is though. I have curly hair and when I was younger I wanted straight hair. Now I am beginning to appreciate the attributes of having curls :) Good Luck!

You could get a curly perm. Thats what I'm going to do this summer when my hair is a little longer. My hair is the opposite of yours. It's wavy and a little curly. That's why I'm going to get a perm to make it all look even. You should try it. It should help and there's no way that it won't stay curly because they use all of those chemicals. You will just have to use a little bit of gel to keep it from being frizzy.

you can get a perm...or...if that's TOO permanent for you...try having someone braid your hair very tightly (it might hurt a little depending on who does it). be sure to use gel and to have them do it when it's dry. take it out the next day. whenever i do this, my hair stays curly for days depending on how often i wash it. use gel when it's braid and you can use other products when you take it out to keep it from frizzing up. i prefer to get 2 french braids or cornrows.

My daughter has the same trouble. We decided against a perm, so the hairdresser suggested washing and conditioning with the "curling" products, followed by a spray on product and a dab of mousse, we then use a ceramic curling iron and a light spray of curl booster. She sometimes sleeps in the foam curlers, but we use the products first and I slightly blow dry her hair once the rollers are in. By the next AM she looks like Goldie locks.

Rub your hair in pure Lanolin. Leave it on as long as possible...two hours minimum.

Rinse with water...and blow dry.

If everything works out OK ...your hair will be like a sheep..very tight curls..

The problem is, if it is too curly, you will need to have your hair sheared (cut).

do not use hair spray...! it only makes ur hair sticky......just use gel....(eco) is the best gel u can find, that makes ur curls last till next day....believe me.....if u cant find eco than use another brand,,,,BUT IT HAS TO BE GEL! try to find a number higher than 5 atleast,,,look for the level in the brand. when u get it take some in ur hands and put it on,put more on ur ends.. but ur hair must be wet b4 putting it on....not too wet.good luck!

OMFG!!! I have THE SAME exact problem as you do! It really does suck =\ What I do sometimes is before I go to bed I wash my hair, and towel dry it, then a put a ton of mousse in it, and scruntch it. Then I throw it up in a messy bun and let it out in the morning and curl it a little.

Yep, I also have the exact same problem. As you have found out, none of the things you try help. The only thing that will make your hair wavy or curly is what is called a "wave" or a "perm". A wave is usually not as curly as the perm, but the chemicals used are the same. The hair stylist just uses larger rollers to process your hair to make your hair less curly. Depending on how fast your hair grows, you will have to have it touched up about every 4 to 6 months. Years ago this process was very damaging, and it still is not the best thing in the world to put in your hair, but neither is hair color. Talk to your hair stylist. when you get out of the shower, put your hair in pony tail. put one elastic at the top and twist it, then put one at the bottom. sleep on it and take it out the next morning when your hair is dry, and put hairspray on if you need it.
