Why do people always think Curly hair is fake?

I'm a mixed woman and I have a unique type of curly hair. People always compliment it; however, almost ALWAYS following the complimnent comes that ANNOYING question: "Is it real?"

I'm not the only one with curly hair who's experienced this over and over. I know other people with curly hair who get doubtful questions.

Tell me, why does curly hair always have to be fake or unnatural? Why can't people just realize it's your own?

I don't have curly hair, I have natural blonde hair, and people constantly ask me what dye I use. They somehow think everyone is born with either straight brown hair, or tight nappy hair, and if you have blonde hair or soft curls, it's got to be fake. I think it's jealousy, because everyone wants curls (or blonde hair). I just smile and say "blessed by nature". (even though that smile is fake, I really want to ask them where their manners are)

Now you know how genuine blondes feel ! I know what you mean, but most people should be able to tell real curls from the fake. I always wanted natural curls, and the people who had them, didn't want them. Ignore the doubters, they're just jealous, so have to attempt sarcasm.

I am not one to judge weather your hair is curly or straight. I could care less if everyone were bald either. it is not the person who wears the hair, it is ultimately the person under it.so in my opinion this really shouldn't bother you unless you are so shallow that the slightest thing could set you off.

My daughter is biracial too and we live in a country were you just dont see people like this too often. I CAN NOT go out anywhere with out getting that exact same response your talking about! Its so funny cause people will literally stop what they're doing and come back to ask to touch her hair. When they do, the question always follows- "is it naturally that curly?" Sometimes I just want to say " no, I just thought it was a good idea to perm my 3 year old's hair." But anyway, yea, its funny we get the same response you get. Just take it as a compliment. People with your type of hair are just so unique looking and pretty.
