For girls with CURLY hair! help please?!?

I have extremely curly multi ethnic hair. My mom is Hispanic and my dad is black %26amp; white. I just want tips on styling my type of hair both while its curly and straightening it. I just got a Chi flat iron today. What are the best ways to straighten it and keeping it straight? I live in Houston where its humid pretty much year round. Here is a picture of me so you can get an idea of how curly my hair is. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q197/... Any %26amp; all tips will be appreciated! Thanks!

That's exactly what my hair looks like and I'm pretty much the same mix as you too! For when my hair is curly, I get out of the shower and put some leave in conditioner in it, then some silicone, then I style it with Garnier Fructis Soft Curl Cream and let it air dry. When I straighten it, I put Chi Silk Therapy treatment in it and let it air dry til it's damp, then I blow it out with a paddle brush so that it's dry, detangled, and not as kinky. I work a tiny bit more of the Silk Therapy all over my hair, then use my flat iron in sections. I section my hair off into quarters, and starting with the bottom left quarter I run the iron over 2" wide 1/4" deep sections until they're straight straight straight. Normally, my hair will stay straight until I wash it, but when it's really humid it will curl up a bit so I just spray it with some hairspray and hope for the best! My other favorite products are Paul Mitchell Straight Works, Pink Lotion, and the Matrix thermal spray.

hummm. well, to keep it straight (and pretty!) go to the herbal essences site!

they have styling videos, and one that i keep in my favorites list is the deadly "Pin-Straight Hair" look!

it's good info! check it out!

Wow that is curly!!! But it is cute, so go with it curly. Just go straight now and then for a fun change.

Mine is just wavy and I have to gel it then straighten to get it straight. I just brush mine with a curling brush from damp to dry and mine will stay, but you are way curly I don't know if you can go straight in the humidity.

I just want to know....can I get a date?

For girls with CURLY hair! help please?!?

hmm.. well i do like the L'oreal shampoo/conditioner in the orange bottle. the one for "smooth"... i wanna try the herbal essence one. make sure to keep ur hair well conditioned at all times.. the drier it is, the less smooth it will be

what i do is first apply the CHI serum to protect hair from heat!

then i part my hair into two sections...start from underneath in small sections, slowly move to the top layers..it's pretty hard to keep it straight in the back! might have to ask someone to do that for u....

when ur done, apply a gloss or cream to keep it less frizzy..good luck!

Your hair is very similiar to my girlfriends, and I usually straighten and style her hair.

For its curly, and just some styling tips? I usually rub some medium-hold gel onto my hands and then seperate her hair into sections and then twist it around my fingers. It has a nice hold to it, and it gives the curls singular definition rather than the whole clump look.

For straightning? After you get out of the shower, do *NOT* towel dry your hair. Use some frizz serum and evenly distribute it throughout. Then take your hair dryer (hopefully with a nozzle?) and a large paddle brush. Angling the brush down, blow dry your hair that way. Always make sure to go down because thats the direction you want-straight. Make sure its 100% dry, then add some heat-protectant spray and divide the hair into four sections. Flat-iron each (you may have to do it 3 times to get the desired look).

If you want to permanently keep your hair straight you might want to go to a salon and get it straightened. You can also buy the kits at the dollar store but I think that they can burn your hair if you don't know what you are doing. I have never done that. I used to attempt to keep my curly hair straight with a flat iron or a round brush and blow dryer but I have grown to love my curls. I just try to keep my hair well conditioned. Have it trimmed every so often.

you're so pretty!

and wow my mom and dad are the same

so is my hair, curly/wavy-ish

i love your hair curly, you wear it well

but anti-frizz is really good

when it gets hot over here i just straighten it and put a bit of anti frizz serum and maybe straighten it again

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

like if a man has curly/curly hair and the women has staight/straight hair, what kind of hair would their kid have?

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

usually you get the hair the your mom's dad has.

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

straight =]

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

i think they would have curly hair!

curly hair runs through families

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

curly

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

They most likely will get curly...but sometimes itll turn out straight or a combination (wavy) hair!!

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

Bio 101 will teach you that curly is dominant, but it has been my experience that it thickness has alot to do with the end result of a straight curly mix. Thick hair whether curly or straight is usually dominant. Don't forget like yellow and blue make green: curly and straight can make wavy.

Which is dominant- curly hair or straight hair?

Curly hair is dominant. The child of a curly haired parent (CC) and a straight haired parent (ss) would most likely end up with wavy hair.

If your curly headed person actually has wavy hair, he or she would be a Cs. A wavy haired person can contribute either a C or an s gene. If paired to a straight haired person (ss), then the kids would either have straight (ss) or wavy hair (Cs).

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

I was wondering would a curly mouse like garnier fructis exsta curls curl and shine long lasting springy curls or is say aussies sprunch spray pr a spary gel better for curly hair? what is the best way to use mousse on hair thats short thick and curly that after u dry your hair as soon as u put the mouse in your hair it gets all wet agian can ayoone help me with that as well any suggestons? Thnxs so much for all your help out there

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

I personally like mouse better than spray. Most sprays tend it make hair hard, whereas mouse makes it easy to work with. You can also control the distribution of where the product needs to do (roots, ends, etc.) on your hair with mouse, and with the spray, it's kind of like guessing. To use the mouse, comb it through your hair, then scrunch starting at the bottom, to reinforce the curl. You might want to put the mouse in before you style, to get rid of the whole wet problem, but if not, just don't put too much on.

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

spray stuff

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

kso;

i would use aussie moose.

it's amazingggg!

it's not that expensive either.

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

I would tend to stay away from mousse or gels, as those can weigh your curls down and the result would not be as "springy" like natural curls can be.

I would try curl enhancing shampoo first, like "wash n curl" (this is assuming you have natural curl and not a perm or curling iron curls) that will enhance the affect of your natural curls.

I have naturally curly hair, but I don't have the "face" for it, so I keep my hair straight...but being I have curly hair naturally, thought I'd share the opinion with you.

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

I think moose is better. It will let your hair last longer without leaving it as crunchy.

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

I like mousse better, the spritz doesn't really allow your hair to move, I like tresemme the best. Whichever you use find one that's alcohol free. curly hair is already easily dried out, it doesn't need any help

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

ok so you have short curly hair. well if we are talking health then mousse is a lot better for your hair but if you want something that puts a real good hold on it then you'll want spray and the aussie stuff just might do it for you. :)

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

Ooo...my lil sis has curly hair kinda like you. She puts in the moose after her hair has been towl dried =)

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

Which is best? Can't tell if you're trying to keep it curly or not. Curly vs frizzy? Most women would really like to have curly hair (you can tell I wish I did) and I would encourage you to have a cut that adores your curly texture. This ploy will save you lots of time in front of the mirror and lots of heartache. If frizz if your problem, embrace some of the products to address this. Recommend you watch What Not to Wear, Nick Arrojo, and listen to his recommendations on curly hair. Every once in a while he'll blow dry curly hair until it's straight, but I'd save that for a special rare occasion. It's just too much work!

Witch is better for curly hair mousse or spray stuff?

mousse is better because the sprays can make your hair sticky an crunchy so they end up not as soft and bouncy

how about something like that? if you look at the ends of their curls, their hair is layered.

so you can straighten it, and have it be layered and it can look nice either way

I want curly hair!?

Ok, so I have extremely straight hair. I want it curly but I never have enough time in the morning to do it. I don't want a perm because it's nice to not have to straighten it sometimes. What is your advice on getting curly hair, but not spending a lot of time on it, and not getting a perm? Thanks for all the help and advice! If anyone had really good tips on hair, could you please leave your email address so you can help me out a little more? Thanks!

I want curly hair!?

what i've found works pretty well, without a lot of time or money (curling irons and defusers can be expensive) is to to use a leave in conditioner and wrap your hair around your fingers, then bobby pin up and let dry.

my hair is also very straight and wont hold curl for anything. this works and stays looking good all day!

I want curly hair!?

Trust me, you DO NOT want curly hair. You can style your hair in different ways to change it up.

I want curly hair!?

Curling iron da

I want curly hair!?

Shampoo...wash and curl works

I want curly hair!?

wear rollers to bed, or just defuse it crunch it with some gel moose and hair spray!

I want curly hair!?

Hot rollers are the best.

I want curly hair!?

I want curly hair too.... a pity she does not want me... I am madly in love with her

I want curly hair!?

only way is perm it

I want curly hair!?

Try getting a helix haircut, it gives you more natural looking curl without the chemicals %26amp; you can still wear it straight without pulling on it for hours.

I want curly hair!?

Easiest way to get fast curly hair. Make rag curles.

Cut up a soft cloth, like a sheet, into about 6-8 inch strips. Wet your hair down and section into peices, however many you want. Wrap the hair around a rag, sometimes it's helpful to add a tiny bit of gel to the hair first. Tie the ends of the rag together and sleep on it. I usually do my whole head with these curls and it takes about 10 minutes before bed and about 10 minutes to take the rags out in the morning.

I want curly hair!?

French braid you hair into 2/4 braids before you go to bed(after you have a shower) If your hair is relatively long wait until it is just damp. I find I like to use four braids. Anyways, when you wake up take it out and hairspray. Style as desired

I want curly hair!?

when you get out of the shower towel dry it a bit - then put some gel in it, and scrunch it up with your hands while you blow dry it. it might not work depending on how straight your hair is... but that works for a lot of people. another way is to wash your hair at nite and then get it mostly dry and then put it in rollers while you sleep - it'll be dry in the morning and hopefully have some curl to it. again that one depends on your hair, it too might not work

I want curly hair!?

I agree on the not wanting curly hair, but it's always the same straight want curly and curly want straight. But anyway try sleeping with hot rollers. In the morning you only need to take them out and style.

I want curly hair!?

I also have very very straight hair. I always wanted curly hair. And everyone who has curly hair wants it straight. I dont have any sympathy for them though, because they can totally straighten their hair a lot easier than it is to curl ours.

The best thing I have found to work are those bendy rods that are about as long as a pencil and as thick as a small curling iron. I just put them into my hair when it's wet, go to bed, and when I wake up they are dry and curly! Hot rollers are good, too. The actual time of putting them in doesnt take too long, you just put them in and go about your business (having breakfast and putting on make up and getting dressed) then the last thing you do is take them out and...voila!

What other questions about hair do you have?

I have really curly hair, but i want bangs, HELP!?

I have a round face and curly hair. i have tried to layer it, i have straighten it and it looks good. but i love my curly hair. should my bangs be straight and the rest of my hair curly, would that look good?

I have really curly hair, but i want bangs, HELP!?

You know, I've seen a chick with curly hair and straight bangs before and I didn't think it was cute at all. I think you should forget the bangs.

I have really curly hair, but i want bangs, HELP!?

thats what i do but just make sure they have a lil bounce in them so they arent like glued to your head wen u straighten them like use a curvemotion with the straightener

I have really curly hair, but i want bangs, HELP!?

ooo... yes thats a pretty look i love it

I have really curly hair, but i want bangs, HELP!?

for a round face, i wouldn't do straight bangs but side swept bangs. they will stay with your curl but give you that extra something you've been needing with your style (trust me i used to have this look!)

I have really curly hair, but i want bangs, HELP!?

I wuld give anything to have curly hair! I think that would look cute. I say go for it even if you dont like it you can always grow your hair back. But im sure it will look fantasic!

I have really curly hair, but i want bangs, HELP!?

don't do it! for hair to look it's best you should work with it, not against it. straight bangs with curly hair sounds very .......not good ;)

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

When you wash it at night and sleep in it should you put product in it or not and should you let lie free or in a bun?

I have really curly thick hair that gets frizzy and humongous! I'm wondering what to do because I'm going to wash it tonight and want it to look good tomorrow where I don't have to do much to it to get it to look decent. Please only answer if your hair is curly like i described or if you have had experience with this type of hair. Thank you!

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

- You can put your hair up in a microfiber hair turban when it's wet the night before. It's like twisting up your hair iwth a towel only it has a mechanism so it will stay up. It's also good for quick drying after showering in the morning, which is what I generally do for my curly hair. Here's a link.

http://curlmart.com/store/product.php?pr...

-Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!

- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent. They dry out curly hair.

- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair. Then let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer with a diffuser.

- I really like the garnier fructis sleek and shine leave in cream and Tressemme clean hold gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites. Frizz-ease hair serum is pretty good for fighting frizz.

- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

If u want it to be curly let it dry in a bun or pony tail... my hair is also wavey and curly.

Go here, answer my question plz!!

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

I have thick curly hair, and the best way to style mine is to mousse the hell outta it when its wet and leave it to dry natural and in the morning just give it a good wet to smooth the frizzy bits and recharge the curls.Hope it helps.X

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

just pull back into a bun, that should reduce the poofiness

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

i hav th eexact same problem, i usually straighten my hair, but when i dont i always use Redken conditioner and shampoo, adn after ive towel dried my hair, i use a pea size amount of th eleave in conditioner. dont tie it up if u use this product, just make sure to put your hair of to the side so that your not sleeping on it. if you cant use this product, put a bit of the product u use, and put it in a loose bun. BUT AFTER BUY THE REDKEN PRODUCT, IT ACTUALLY WORKS, u can get it at any beauty supply place. good luk with the hair

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

I've NEVER been able to sleep on my wet hair and it look good the next day. As far as it getting frizzy and big, don't bend over when you scrunch it and put hairspray in it while its WET. The curls will set the way they are while wet (which is usually pretty sleek). ALSO, do NOT, I repeat DO NOT touch your hair with a brush or a comb while its dry or even close to dry, only when soaking wet. I keep a comb in the shower with me because this will only lead to frizzer hair.

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

I have the same exact hair and when I want to give it a break from all of the products I have to put in it, I wahs and condition it ...apply a little gel, put it in a tight bun, and sleep on it. It also makes it softer when you do it like that. You won't have to do much in the morning...just take it out and mess with it a little...apply some hairspray if you want. I usually take mine out, mess with it and then put it in an updo...It always works for me!

Extremely Thick Curly Hair Question?

you need to keep it wet. your best bet is to tie it up in a bun then in the morning wet it completely. to keep your curls in tact herbal essense has this really good maximum hold mousse. if your hair is very long you;ll probably wind up using most of the bottle. it's at walmart for like 4 bucks. while wet turn ur head udside down... put alot of the mousse in your hands %26amp; work it completely thru you hair. when it dries tour curls should be in shape.. it will be hard butit will look nice. it you don't want to completely wet your hari you can buy detanglers that you spray in your hair. i used them when i was a kid. but i don't prefer them.

for an up do like just a nice ponytail. get som issopluss gel. it's in the part where all the black ppl hair supplies are. it's a yelowish orange color. or some lets JAM extra hold. put the mouse on your tips. the gel or the jam on the edges of you head %26amp; you a hard brush. every single haie on your head will be in place. it't also looks really sufistiacting w/ pearls or studs. :) the more you use these products the more you will physicaly understand how they work with your hair. %26amp; if your creative, you'll have no broblem w. experimenting. have fun i hope you look nice tomorrow :)
